![]() ![]() You’re not really building up or customizing the characters in any fashion except for the possibility of teaching them new skills and forming relationships to the point of marriage. ![]() ![]() I think a more sensible argument against SC in comparison to The Sims is that you cannot create a custom character in SC, all of the characters are pre-made and given to you with their quirks and personalities built in. They have needs that are almost exact copies of The Sims, with very similar consequences for ignoring those needs. If you’re saying that the SC characters have no fail states, that’s also not true. If The Sims had “challenges” where you had to make a certain amount of money or have a certain amount of skills after X years, would it no longer be like The Sims? You’re saying the cutoff is that Space Colony has stages? If that’s what you’re saying, and I’m not sure if you are, then I’d like to submit the fact that Space Colony has a sandbox mode. There is no go you have to achieve to make it to the next stage. Sims lets you do whatever you want and fail states are fine and expect. There is no satisfaction in a fail state since the characters the game presents you with have to be sucessful in order to progress to the next level. You had to satisfy their needs in a very orderly way. Space Colony was at its core a virtual pet game. Yes and Space Colony plays nothing like the Sims. ![]()
